I want that.
I'd rebuild my motor & trans & just swap those in.

How does this even happen?
I want it.

How very odd. Took hail damage in the dealer lot, got robbed for parts, and then auctioned off?

would be good track monster, doubt it could be registered. might be a tradeschool car, but those are supposed to be crushed. I suppose no one would have missed one little metro.

dunno, but I doubt it could be registered or it would have wound up on the road at some point. just the blank canvas of any brand-new relic missing an engine is intriguing

$1000 is pretty close to the original sticker price back in 95

There have been sveral old model brand new Transit Connect Gliders knocking around on UK ebay for the past few years. They were supplied to Azure Dynamics for EV Conversion sans Engine and Gearbox, who went bust before building them. I think they got down to around £2000 before disappearing. Someone had put a used engine/box in, but not registered yet. (That’s always a red flag!)
I think they would be very difficult to register in the UK, I’d assume that would be the same in a lot of places. They probably ended up scrapped for parts or exported somewhere with more flexible registration requirements.

before the local Subaru deal was bought the Oldsmobile dealership (I know right?), he had a 1987 ish 1st gen MR2 supercharged on the lot with 22 miles on it. said it had been tied up with insurance since 3 days after purchase. Was left to rot away. He legally couldn’t sell it or any parts off of it for some reason. The body was falling off of it in 2006 when the dealership was going through liquidation of assets.
